Bridging the Digital Divide in Kasungu

Expanding Computer Access and Teacher Training
K2 TASO’s technical staff and computer teachers have been working tirelessly this month to expand digital learning opportunities across Kasungu District. The team has been traveling from school to school, setting up equipment, troubleshooting networks, and leading Continuous Professional Development workshops for teachers.
These training sessions cover both fundamental and advanced computer skills—including hardware setup, maintenance, and modern teaching methods that make technology an active part of learning. Teachers are encouraged to go beyond the basics and use digital tools in creative, engaging, and inclusive ways. The atmosphere has been energetic and collaborative, with teachers sharing insights and working together to solve classroom challenges.
Growing Network of Partner Schools
With this most recent expansion, K2 TASO now supports 31 Community Day Secondary Schools and 4 primary schools throughout Kasungu District. Eight of those schools joined just this month, each receiving new laptops, solar power support, and training.
This outreach is transforming the educational landscape—allowing more students to gain computer literacy and more teachers to integrate technology confidently into their lessons.
Partnership and Support
This progress has been made possible through the ongoing partnership between K2 TASO and Bridges to Malawi, supported by Jennifer Hardy and the Hardy Bunch Foundation. Over the past month, Jennifer and her team have donated more than 300 laptops to schools across the district, dramatically increasing student access to digital resources.
During this trip, the team also installed a Starlink satellite system at Mbongozi Secondary School—bringing reliable, high-speed internet to one of the most remote areas in Kasungu. This connection will help teachers access online resources, collaborate with colleagues, and open doors for students to explore global learning opportunities.
Looking Ahead
K2 TASO’s growing network of teachers, technicians, and schools is creating a new foundation for digital education in Malawi. Each connection—whether a new laptop, an internet link, or a skill shared—helps close the digital gap and prepares students for a more connected future.
